Making a Photo a Cover Photo

Making your favorite photo the top photo in a standard multi-photo post or a photo album is easy. The first thing to know is that your first photo will always be the top image in either post type. But if you’ve posted your photos and changed your mind on which image you want as your cover photo, it’s easy to change in edit. Let's look at both examples:

Editing a Standard Multi-Photo Post

A standard multi-photo post just means that the photos are stacked individually on top of each other. In this type of post, the first photo will have a small numbered badge that indicates the top photo is number one of however many in the stack. This is the preferred format with less than ten total photos. Let’s look at how to change the cover photo.

1. On your existing multi-photo post, click on the ••• on the top right of the post to access Edit from the menu options.

2. Select the photo row to open the photos associated with this post. They will appear in a grid view so you can easily see your photos at a glance.

3. To get a closer look, click on any image for a single photo view. You can swipe left or right to see more photos.

4. Once you’ve located the photo you want to make your new cover photo, select the star icon which will prompt you to confirm you want to make this image your cover photo, the first photo in your sequence. Choose Yes.

5. The new photo you just made your cover photo will now appear at the top of your photo stack.

Editing a Photo Album or Shared Photo Album

Photo albums or shared photo albums just mean lots of photos which are laid out in a four photo mosaic as opposed to the single photo stacked view. Let’s look at how to change the cover photo in an album.

1. On your photo album or shared photo album post, click on the ••• on the top right of the post to access Edit from the menu options.

Choose Yes.

5. The new photo you just made your cover photo will now appear in the first position of your four photo mosaic.
