For approximately five hours yesterday there was an outage with a Google Cloud service that we use to help provide authorization and read/write security for our backend. If you were affected by it (it was regional) then you would have experienced it as seeing content effectively vanish. In particular, we had a lot of reports of users’ groups disappearing from their home screen. That was because the GC service was improperly denying read access to your group and membership data, the functional equivalent of not belonging to those groups in the first place.
The issue was resolved by Google at 9:50pm EST last night. In the event that everything has not returned to normal for you (unlikely, but definitely possible) it’s likely a result of a corrupted authorization token generated during the outage. Logging out and logging in again should fix that.
We apologize for the inconvenience. One of the things we’re working on today is a way to remotely trigger in-app banners and/or announcements to help inform users, in real-time, of anything they might need to know.
